Ask Scott (6-2-10)
Q:
I have heard that there are
major changes to the
OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Outreach
Training Program
being announced by OSHA, can you tell us about them?
A:
There are major changes being announced and over the next little while we'll
be sending out a letter to all UCSD-authorized Trainers detailing them. As
with most changes there will be a roll-out period and we will keep you
informed. The first major change, which should be included immediately is
incorporation of the new "Introduction to OSHA" It is critical that all
Instructors teaching the 10 and 30 hour courses incorporate this 2 hour
block into their instruction. Please see the listing below with accompanying
links for assistance. IMPORTANT NOTE: OSHA will not be updating their
website with this new requirement until sometime in the future...however, it
is effective immediately.
Another change which you should begin planning for and implementing is the
elimination of single day 10 hour classes and less than 4 day 30 hour
classes. If you have a printed catalog with scheduled classes under current
policy these will be honored through 2010, otherwise, please implement this
change now.
There will be others as well; it is a time of change. First step: Start
including the 2 hour Introduction to OSHA as defined below and follow the
Instructor Guide very closely. Best wishes, and thank you for your service
as Trainers.
While we construct our
own Resources site, we are indebted to our friends at USF for allowing us to
link to the documents below.
